Im buying a brand new laptop my bugect is £600.
I will use it for doing little work like word and Excel e.t.c.
I hear that if you are going to get a vista pc or laptop you need extra ram or something so it will run quite well.
So please post on here good specs for vista.
Also! Can you play games that are desgined for windows xp on a vista computer?

Bye thanks!
I will choose a best answer!

Getting at least 2 GiB RAM for Vista would be a good idea (though if you can get the laptop with XP you should, Vista is crap) but aside from that there probably isn't much else to say (if you're graphics chip isn't good enough for Vista's stupid eye candy it can always be turned off).

In theory XP games should work on Vista but it doesn't quite seem to be working out that way in practice, some work, some don't seem to. Though if you plan to play games you'll need to make sure you get a decent GPU in your laptop (i.e. not Intel Integrated Graphics crap).
