I've heard that Mr. Cuban wants to buy the Cubbies. What a GREAT idea! I think that MLB is dying a slow death and will be a much smaller league in 50 years because kids today don't appreciate its subtleties. For them, it's just too damnn slow.
But Mr. Cuban would pump MILLIONS into the team and bring an aliveness to stodgy baseball that it hasn't seen since Charley O. Finley and Branch Rickey.
I sure hope that MLB approves him.

Regarding "attendance record," you are 100% correct. However, NFL supplanted it as national pasttime 10 years ago. People under 30 relate far more to NFL and UFC/MMA than the slowness of baseball.
My boys hated playing baseball, playing the outfield or waiting to bat. More importantly, they NEVER watch it on TV.

MLB broke an attendence record this year. That is a slow death for you. It would be great to see him buy the team though. He always wants to win, kind of like a young Steinbrenner.
That's too bad your boys don't watch it. Lots of other kids watch it. MLB is also going to break the record for attendance average at a game. Something like each game averages 32,000. You say football is the pastime, yet some teams can't even sellout their 8 home games. To sell out 8 games a year shouldn't be a hard thing to do, but teams struggle. I guess they are the Devil Rays of football.

He has his application in for the opportunity to buy the team. If I were a Cubs fan I would love to have him as an owner, everything he touches turns to gold. He may be an out front owner and get his face in the paper a lot but I want a guy that is passionate...i want someone who is committed to putting the best product he possibly can out there. When he bought the Mavericks they were a laughing stock of the league and now they are contenders every year. That is all you can ask for as a fan, at least be int he mix, a few bounces your way and you are a champion.

Baseball owners have to approve the buyer. No one in their old, stuffy a$$ minds would approve Cuban to join their little club. I think it would be good for baseball, but it wont happen. By the way: Bill Veck was the greatest baseball owner to ever grace the Majors. He was the Barnum and Baileys of baseball, but man could he fill a stadium!

As a Cubs fan, I would love to see Cuban buy them. But i seriously doubt that the other owners would allow him to because he does not fit in with their old boys club. Also, I would bet Jerry Reinsdorf will do everything in his power to stop it.

Hope So. We could use some updates to Wrigley so concrete doesn't fall on the fans! It would also be nice to have someone who could compete with Steinbrenner on payroll, too!

Plain and simple, the other owners would never allow it. He's too much of a rebel, a loose cannon, for their tastes.

He might consider it if he can just win "dancing with the stars", which is his first objective now.
