Every thing on Pink Floyd's Animals album:
Pigs on the Wing (Part 1)
Dogs
Pigs (Three different ones)
Sheep
Pigs on the Wing (Part 2)
You know that I care what happens to you
And I know that you care for me
So I don't feel alone
Or the weight of the stone
Now that I've found somewhere safe
To bury my bone
And any fool knows a dog needs a home
A shelter from pigs on the wing

"At The Zoo" by Simon & Garfunkel would be a great one, it mentions numerous animals.
"So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright" by Paul Simon is about his dog.
"The Littlest Birds (Sing The Prettiest Songs)" by The Be Good Tanyas
"Seamus" by Pink Floyd (dog howling backing vocals)
"Me And You And A Dog Named Boo" by Lobo
"Good Morning, Good Morning" by The Beatles has many animal sounds in its outro.

You can try "The Rhythmatist" ..a solo album by ex-Police drummer Stuart Copeland made in Africa..or a reel-to reel recording made from Sydney's "Taronga Park Zoo" captured at night..very interesting sounds..you could do the same. Outside now I would suggest..
