I was dilated to 2 and 100% effaced for 7 days before going into labor. My friend was dilated to 3 for 10 days.

i am currently 2-3 cm dilated, 80% effaced and due this Sat. Dr. said could go any time, could be a week or two. He did say that if I didn't have the baby by the due date that he would like to induce on Tues. or Wed. of next week. I would think that if this is her second pregnancy that the baby will be here momentarily.

Unfortunately its hard saying! I wish it was true!!!LOL Every women and pregnancy it different! I am 37weeks and 2 days I am dilated to 4 and 100%efaced. And still no baby I have been this way for a week now! I have tried everything, I walk like crazy tried the whole nipple stimulation thing my husband and I have has sex a few times and the darn contraction wont stay strong enough and the hospital just keeps sending me home:( LOL Good Luck I hope your baby comes soon!:)

It could be hours or days. I was 3 cm dilated for 5 weeks. I am sure the doctor probably told her what he thought, and if the doctor thought it would be very soon he would not have released her to go home, relax and good luck.

It all depends, I was 2 cm dilated 4 weeks before my due and and I was induced at 38 weeks.

lol - seriously it could. Considering her past early birth I would be prepared for anytime - but women can be dilated and effaced for weeks prior to birth. Get her walking - do a little mattress dance - and get plenty of rest because soon baby will make two.

She is getting closer! I was 2 cm dilated for two weeks and my baby was still 2 weeks early. The waiting is miserable but once that baby gets here it is all worth the wait! Good luck!
