do i need to switch off 1 day before the move and then leave it for another day before switching on again at the new location? how to protect the gas or motor?

Transporting it in the upright position is best. This way the unit can be started fairly quickly after it is in the new place. If transported on it's side, you will need to leave it off for a few hours due to the oil and refrigerant moving up in the compressor. Turn it off when you decide to clean it out.
