His ex wife married him sometime while she was in high school and divorced him in the 1980's.
I want to know when they were married. Are these records public? Can I call the courthouse and ask when their marriage was registered and when they were divorced?

I cannot ask him because I have tried that route before and he is a pathological liar and I have 2-3 different dates.

Yes this is public record...In IL, you can go online and look. Just go down to the court but you have to know the case number so check online first.

In most states they are public, however you probably can't get an answer over the phone. In oklahoma and several other states, you go to the county web site and find the records section type in the name and walla it gives you the dates. No kidding!

But why don't you just ask him? It seems it shouldn't even matter, but if it does to you then try an online search, like:

your state and county and divorce records or public records.

Any legal marriage must be registered at a courthouse and is public record. That said, why would you need this information unless you were some kind of insecure freak?

Marriage Licenses are almost always public record. (thats why they are printed in the newspapers). Call the county where they were married to find out how to get a copy. They won't tell you over the phone usually, they make you pay to get a copy.

I believe that they are public record. You could call the courthouse and talk to the clerk they may be able to let you know what the next step will be.

It is public record. It may take some digging if the files are not in a computer database, but you can find out.

They are public records...All you need ro do is go to your local county court house and as long as you have both names you can find it....If you have an index number it would be faster to search but, if not the clerk there can assist you.....

Yes that is public domain, I can help you find it but you didn't specify the state of marriage so I can link you to where you need to search by name...
