The 'recipe' is simple but requires work and time. You have two years, so it may work.

1) knowledge: you need to learn stuff (formulas, equations, definitions, names of math functions...).

2) Understanding: you have to understand what the stuff you learn really means. What does it mean for a number to be a "square". Why is Sin(38) the same as Cos(62)...

3) Operations: How can you move from one thing to another. If I give you the logarithm of a number, are you able to find the cube root of that number?

4) Strategies: If I give you a problem to solve, are you able to combine operations in order to take information you know (knowledge) or can find (understanding), and find an answer?

At each step, you must practice.

For example,
What is a vector?
How are vectors represented in navigation (speed and direction).
What operation allows you to add vectors? to subtract vectors.
If you have to correct the course for a cross-wind, can you take your desired course vector and subtract from it the error-vector caused by the wind? this will give you the heading that you must aim for.
