Much later than the Oil Change places like!

When I got a new pickup, the manual recommended every 5,000 instead of every 3,000. I actually catch up with it between 5,000 and 6,000. Those 4 less oil changes per year saves me about $100. Imagine how much less oil we would use if everyone changed.

"You can change your oil every 3,000 miles if you're really particular, but we recommend changing it every 5,000 miles," commented Tom and Ray Magliozzi, the erudite grease-monkey hosts of the popular National Public Radio program "Car Talk," on a show last year.

Always late. My car is a 1997 Nissan & it still runs great. The rule about changing oil is a scam to make you buy more oil.

I'm usually late. When I first got my car I was so busy playing basketball that I went 1,000 miles over an oil change....oops.

Sometimes early, and sometimes late, and sometimes right on time, but most of the time, I get it done right around the right time!

Late whenever I use synthetic ($$$$) oil in my car. Right on time when I use the standard stuff.
