wouldn't he have more power if he pulled the ball?

Jeter hits for hits, extra bases and average. He is a top of the order hitter and doesn't need to hit dingers. If he had too, i bet he could, but he is a table setter for the rest of his team.

That is one of the best things about Jeter, he understands his role, accepts it and plays within himself.

He is like Brett Favre, I cant stand them because of the teams they play on, but I have to respect their games and wish I had them on my teams.

Considering that he is about 150 hits ahead of Pete Roses pace of getting hits and is also on track to break the career record for runs scored in about 8 years I think he knows what he is doing.

The thing about Jeter is that he has a certain role. Get on base, move runners, keep the inning going. He can hit them out when needed too, but he isn't the kind of hitter that can hit home runs all the time without giving up the other things he does well.

He gets pitches inside that he can hit the other way. Occasionally he will pull those and hit a homer. If he pulled the ball all the time, he wouldn't get the same pitches anymore - they'd pitch him away and he wouldn't be able to do as much with them since he isn't strong enough to hit those out.

He doesn't always. He hits the pitch where it's thrown.

Pitchers like to crowd him because he's up on the plate. So he hits it inside out from middle in on the plate so he can drive the ball to right field.
At Yankee Stadium (and many other AL stadiums) right field is shorter than left field. It increases his chances to hit a home run or double.
If you look at his hit stats he hits them to all fields (remember his homer off of Schilling in Boston over the Green Monster?).

He is a pure hitter, and as stated in other post he is at the top for a reason. He has shown time and time again that he can pull the ball. Base hits are easier for him to get going the other way, and he has proven he can hit behind the runner to advance runner if not score them.

That's what makes him one of the best and most clutch. His ability to hit with power to all fields. You can not pull guys who pitch really fast, you have to go the other way and take what the pitcher gives to you. Sometimes in situational baseball, the pitcher is trying to hit the outside corner with his fastball, you need to take that pitch to right field, that's the only way to hit it., try to pull a outside fastball and you ground out. It's fact, baseball is a game of physics.

I have heard it said when you are hitting the ball to the opposite field your timing is incredible, and you are seeing the ball well.

Don't change Jeter, everyone has a role and he knows his.

He stands so close to the plate they are always jamming him so thats the only way he can swing to hit the ball.

When you have an Inside out swing, you have very quick wrist. that's what he has. His wrist are already through the zone before the bat head. yes, he would pull it, but, as the previous person pointed out, it works for him and, to be honest, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
