Ah you are overdue as well? I hope that you have a regular OB that you see. You should make an appointment with him or her asap and go get a checkup. Yes if your water does not break the doc can do it for you and there is no REAL way to dialate on your own (everyone is different therefor every woman is different. There are methods out there such as eating spicy foods, walking, having sex, castor oil, ect, but they do not work for everyone. Trust me on that, I have tried everything and I am still preggy.) The best thing to do would be to go see your doc because the methods mentioned do not work for everyone. Hang in there sweetie! You'll be holding your little one soon.

I was also scared when I was late. I know you are tired and you are ready to drop sometimes the baby is just stuborn and doesn't want to come. First off have you dilated yet, for your next visit the doctor will check you and if he sees that you are not dilating he will induce you. You won't be able to drink are eat anything after 6 you will only be able to eat ice. When you go in they will either but this thin strip to open up your cervis it has some medicine to help, you won't have a lot of pain but small contractions If that doesn't open it up they will give you some medicine call pitocin, this will make you contractions come strong and painfull. They will come about 2 min apart. Once that startes they will watch you for about an hour and if that works they will use this point will a soft tip and break your water and you will fell more contractions. It will be painfull because of the pitocin, but it will help you dilated. If they see that you are not dilating then they will do a c-section. I hope that I am not scaring you but thats everything that I had to go through but it will all be worth it in the end when you see your baby you will be happy. Good Luck!

If the bag of water doesn't break by itself, the nurse or doctor will do it for you. But they usually wait until labor has progressed and by that time in most of the cases the water breaks by itself. I have read that it is not painful but have not experienced it myself as my water broke before labor started. If your labor doesn't start soon, you might be induced which means they will put you on a hormone that starts the contractions. But you can help yourself by walking a lot. I had a neighbor that was more than a week late and was scheduled for c-section. The day before she took a long walk and that same night her contractions started. Just don't get too exhausted as you will need your strength for labor itself. Also check this site for other natural ways to speed up labor when you are overdue: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/labourandbirth/planningyourbabysbirth/naturalbringonlabour/

I was 8 days late when I had my son. Sometimes you're only "late" because the date of your conception is slightly off. If needed, the doctor will break your water for you (I had to have that done as well); it's not a big deal - it just helps speed labor along. Dilating is something your body does when it's ready. I know all too well that it's not easy, but try to be patient just a little bit longer. It took 8 extra days for me, but I had a healthy son who is now nearly (!!!) 27 years old!

Your due date is not exact; it is an estimate. Babies can be late. Your doctor will not let you go too late and will induce labor if it doesn't happen on its own. Mine was induced by pitocin (given in an IV) and at that point they broke my water. When that happens, you will start to dilate. Congratulations in advance! You will hold that baby soon :-)

If this is your first child it is normal to be late. If you have had any surgeries or biopsies...anything that would cause scarring on your cervix then you will have a difficult labor. Will your doc not induce your labor? There is also the chance that your due date was Miss-calculated.....As long as you have faith in your doc you should be fine...if not get a new one!!!!

wait to see your doctor this afternoon.
You are getting prenatal visits, yes? If so then they are weekly and you either have just had a visit or are shortly about to see your ob.
