Under the Patriot Act they have a right to bug your home if they have "reason to believe" that you might be a threat to society (i.e. terrorist). Otherwise they need a warrant.

Greetings. certainly. Homeland security and the presidental signed statements of the patriot act give the police and any other branch of the government the right to violate your privacy in any way they feel necessary because everyone other then themselves is a suspect terrorist and in the name of national security they have to bug your home and phone and open your mail. Police state tactics, might as well either revolt or get used to it.
