Your girlfriend is a bit crazy, she shouts at you then physically attacks you. You head for the door, she prevents you from leaving. She continues hitting you. You use sufficient force to remove her from you way and run for your life, to find yourself getting arrested for assaulting a woman. The mere fact that you touched her makes you guilty, and no court wants to hear the facts. So what are you supposed to do? bear in mind that some of these attacks from her have been so serious that she has actually stabbed me in the leg, a wound which took three days to close up, and i couldn't walk for 6 weeks.
Ok we are not together anymore, but seriously, legally, does a man have any right to defend himself against a violent woman?

The law and nature confirms that men are stronger physically and since you are such a wimp why did you put up with it for so long. Take her to court.

You should but unfortunately the feminists that wanted more than just equal rights, but also special rights for woman, have gotten their way. I would hate to be a man trying to get justice now a days. Try filing a suit against her for violence and defamation of character. If you called the police on the other occasions and there is a record of that...even medical and your medical records state the nature of your injuries and are dated you should be able to have some kind of recourse. If you can not aford an attorney call around in your area and see if any victim rights advocate lawyers can take your case with no or little fee. You are a victim and I hope you will fight for your rights and all the men out there who are getting abused by our legal system. It is a disgrace! God bless and good luck.

I'm so glad you got away from her. You always have a right to defend yourself, whether it's a man or woman, it's just a matter of how much force you use and if you have anything in your history which shows that you've been violent. Really, it will all come down to what the judge believes and if you have any witnesses who can say they've seen her get violent with you before and that you've never retaliated, only tried to get away. Good luck!

Based on your description this sounds like you have a classic case of self-defense. I would also suggest seeking a restraining order. You probably should have left her earlier and gotten one already, it would have helped your case and still might if you are successful in getting it. For both the restraining order and your defense you will probably need documentation of her violence towards you, including medical records if you sought medical attention. No matter what, you definitely need a lawyer.

From your description it sounds like your case has already been heard and decided and if it is you will need a real good lawyer to try and get any adverse decision overturned. Depending on how long it has been you could be too late to appeal. If it is too late you need to research how to seek a pardon or other action from your state's governor assuming there were no federal charges, if there were you need to go to the president as well.

This is domestic abuse you have suffered from, i don't think a lot of people realise the extent to which men suffer from this because of the stigma attached, a lot of it goes unreported. This woman sounds like a nut and I'm glad you have left her, and no, you will not be charged with assault for using reasonable force to defend yourself. Nobody has the right to hurt another person, and she is answerable to the law for her violence.

Now that you are no longer together you can heal....should you be faced with her in your vicinity, walk on the opposite side of the road unless you are with someone should she approach you.....You have another person then to back up anything she does. If she stabbed you then you should have gone to hospital and taken it up with the staff who would have helped you. You are not a dormat so don't let her walk over you. Stay calm and have everything logged should she get near you again....you could get a restaining order so she cannot come near you...

Why didn't YOU report the attacks to the police, or seek medical attention for the stab wound. At least then you would have medical records to back up your claims that you were acting in self defence.

Self defence can only be claimed if you use force to get enough space or time to exit the situation. Any extra force is assault.
So if you push her away and run out the door, thats fine. If you push her away then punch her, then you are guilty of assualt.

Yes you do, you should have made the phone call to get her arrested. I am glad your not with her anymore. No body should put up with that type of abuse from anyone.
