I currently live in Charlottesville, VA and I'd have to say the best burger place I've tried on the east coast is "Five Guys."
It still doesn't top "In-n-Out." While the menu is pretty basic,(hamburger or cheeseburger; fries; strawberry, banana, or chocolate shakes), it is still worth going ther because the burgers are delicious! I group up in San Diego, CA and that is definitly one of the many things I miss about San Diego.

We have this little place called Ferells, that has been here forever. They have the best burgers.
