my cousin is having a sixth form fancy dress party tomorrow night, her friends are going as devil/angel etc, shes stuck and hasn't a clue what to wear? she wants something quite different

go as a gangster its easy and always looks sexy!!! a little black skirt or shorts, black top white tie gangster black n white hat and fishnets n heels looks fab!!!

She should go as a Greek goddess or heroine. Depending on what fabrics you can get hold of, you could try Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow (she had wings); or Persephone - Goddess/Queen of the Underworld. Or there are other goddesses - Rhiannon, Celtic goddess of the moon who was associated with horses; or Freya - a Norse Valkyrie goddess who was also a warrior.
There are so many depictions of goddesses that you can let your imagination loose on the costume, which is more draped than sewn. You can tie silky cord on the shoulders for a Greek look (available in fabric/curtain shops). If you decide to go Greek, try to find a 'laurel' wreath for your hair.

How about a little girl? She can just go to the thrift store and buy a frilly baby-doll type dress and some Mary Janes with ruffled socks, put her hair in braided pigtails, and carry around one of those big, colorful, all-day-sucker type lollipops. You can use some brown eyeliner to make cute freckles across her nose, too.
