it has a wireless button on it and a wireless light which shows wireless is on or off.but windows doesn't find any wireless hardware.why?

it's not about access point IT IS ABOUT ITS HARDWARE!!! there is NOT ANY WIRELESS HARDWARE HARDWARE in device manager!!!

It could very well be simply that there are no wireless networks available for you to access.

Even if your computer is wireless-capable, you will still need to have a Wireless Access Point (WAP) available. Or you will have to purchase your own combined router/WAP.

well i guess it's a faulty machine.my friend used to have an hp machine with an amd processor, i can't recall the exact series i think its a 5000 series(not so sure),so anyways, it says that it has a wifi built in(wifi capable).but when we checked it, the device manager shows there is no hardware or anything for wireless to work with it.so i think that's your problem..faulty machine

make sure the wireless services is running. if your using windows zero configuration (windows wireless) go to Start > Run > Services.mcs and make sure windows zero configuration is running and set to automatic. If your using something else make sure that service is running. Then go to Control Panel > Network connections > wireless and make sure its enabled
