My 10 month old son was seen at the Dr. on the 18th for a runny nose, the Dr. found that he had an ear infection while we were there. He perscribed Ammoxicilian and he has been taking it since the 19th (haven't scipped a dose). Yesterday the 25th he got a 101.6 fever and today he still has it, he is not to interested in eating, but does drink his bottles. Is this normal? Or am I being and anxious mom?

We went to the doctor and he said that his ears look fine, all he did was change his meds to cefdinir??? his temp in his ear is 101.6 and i took a rectal with a new thermomiter and it said 103.8. I am really scared what could be causing his fever? He does have green mucus coming out of his nose. Please someone answer...

No you are not being anxious, he could be allergic to the medicine or he could also be teething. I would call the doctor to see what they say to do, they may want to see him to make sure the ear infection is going away. When my son was that age he use to get ear infections all the time and ammoxicillian never worked we always had to get a different medicine. Best of luck to you!!

No its not normal. The fever should be done and over with after the first 24 hours, and certainly after 48.

The fact that the fever is back suggest that he might have a more serious infection, or a new one. He also might just be teething right along with the original infection, but just incase you need to take him back in.

Especially since he's not interested in eating.

No it's not normal because the ear infection should be gone soon after starting the antibiotics >>> the baby may not be responding to them and you should call the doctor and tell her this immediately !

I would take him to doctors rightaway just to be on the safe side. Hes keeping fluids down which is good. I dont think you are being anxious but without a doctor you dont know whats wrong with him.

I hope he gets better soon.
