My 9 year old plays tackle football. He and another boy tackled with their heads. the helmet went into the side of his jaw. he was laid out, said he had a headache and his toes and fingers were tingling. Was this a concussion? What was it?

It is possible to have a "burner" (also called a stinger) and a concussion. A burner affects only one side of the body. Try this site: http://www.aafp.org/afp/991101ap/2035.html)

What do you mean by "laid out?" If there was a period of loss of consciousness, however brief, it was a concussion. Ditto if there was a period of confusion or loss of alertness.

It is more than a moot point. There is evidence to suggest that football and soccer players who sustain a concussion are at greater risk of getting a more serious head injury in the subsequent weeks of play.

yes this definitely was at least a concussion i would recommend as much sleep and rest as possible so the concussion heals faster and symptoms fade quicker.
