This is a very good question. Nature gives us food and shelter, other than that we destroy ourselves by overpopulating and using natural recources in an adverse manner, polution, over fishing, damming rivers, destroying land and killing off creatures so we can have more living space, creating weapons that poison the earth and destroy land if we don't cut down on population we are dooming ourselves to self destruction, if we cut down on population we can live in harmony with nature.

Neither.

We are part of Nature. We may think we are more important to Nature than other animals, but we live and die and participate in the food chain like any other.

The conservation types, whom I do admire, respect, and generally cooperate with, usually don't really understand what they are doing. They seem to think they are protecting Nature. They aren't, Nature doesn't need protecting from anything. If they are accomplishing anything significant at all, they are protecting Man's position in Nature, as Nature will get along just fine without us, should the planet become uninhabitable by Man for any reason.

To really understand Nature, you have to realize that Nature exists on Mars, which is entirely devoid of Life (so the evidence suggests so far, anyway.) Nature doesn't even need Life, let alone Human protection. If you consider Mars, you have to conclude that Nature doesn't protect us, it tolerates us, at best.

Neither. We have evolved with all other life. All life is nature. If we are well adapted to the environment we will survive and propagate. If we poison our environment we better make sure we can survive in it. Natural forces can minimize some of the damage we do, but are all knowing powerful capacity to damage can exceed natural forces ability to make the earth livable. You might take some comfort in the likelihood that life could restart and evolve into higher beings that would not destroy their own home.

Depends on your idea of Nature. Lots of people think of Nature as the living components. I am one that includes all abiotic and biotic components.

It is the responsibility of all people to take care of this planet, it is our home.

Earth does, in a completely unemotional and uncaring way provide for us humans. Clean air, good water, soil and abundant plants and animals.

It is not just a matter of quality of life, but quantity as well.

Its a nutual way. The nature what we understand is a creation of almighty GOD...... and is created for us to live in.

If we dont care about the nature we face consequences. So in order to avoid disaster and pain to human and other residents of the planet, we need to take care of our planet. It is the same as you have to take care of your home, and the same argument that do you protect your own home or the home protects you.

Nature is our mother. she put us on this earth and gave us place to exist in here. She protects us-as much as she can, depending on the weather you might say-and you are right-i say.

I think that nature to some extent what we make of her. It is our duty to protect her coz we are here coz of her..

Most humans do not care abut nature. Most have too much to do just to feed themselves and theirs to be bothered abut thinking of nature.

Those of you that do live where you have plenty also are not very willing to do what is needed. Yes many of you say but seldom do.

since we are one species out of an estimated 23 million species of living things on planet earth....and cause we are still here....I rather suspect nature tolerates and protects us to a certain extent.

In my opinion, nature tries to protect us, but we in our ignorance try to overcome nature, thereby destroying what is trying to help us succeed. Man's nature is to destroy. And right now we are destroying everything we can, instead of trying to understand what we don't know.
