PETA people are in general - freaks - they are not peaceful protesters - have you seen how they attack celebrities? True weirdos

The PETA people are trying to draw attention to the problem of animal abuse, and having a celebrity as part of the news story means that more news services and wire services will pick up the story. In a different way, it's the same reason organizations like the American Lung Association use celebrities in their ads. Like it or not, we are a celebrity-fascinated culture.

As other people have pointed out, celebrity. If it were Joe Blow accused of dogfighting, the story wouldn't get the attention it has. But Michael Vick has now become the face of the cruel underground world of dogfighting. He bankrolled the operation, he allegedly took part in "executing" dogs who "underperformed." He's an athlete, which is why his arrest is on ESPN.

Because mike vick is the best example of an inhuman monster the U.S. has ever had !

His picture would absolutely disgust many more people than someone who`s less known for committing vile crimes against animals .

I'd guess they're focusing on Vick for two reasons. One is that he's a celebrity, the other is that he's the one who's accused of bankrolling the operation.

Personally, I think Vick should be allowed to go free and return to football with most of his salary going to animal rescue groups (real ones, not PETA).

Don't lock Vick up--make him work for the animals' benefit...

It's because he is the famous one, so more people will look at the poster because they know who he is. He did vile and truly horrific things to innocent creatures, and now he has to pay the price. He's a shameful excuse for a human, and I would be embarrassed to be associated with him. Lock Michael Vick and his friends up and throw away the key!

current poster child for abuse to animals ; in the name of all the abused animals out there; the one that kids/people know their name and may emulate ; if it saves one animal from being tortured , abused ; I am for it; if it saves one person from following in his footsteps , I am for it; he had everything and yet nothing to be in the gutter abusing defenseless creatures; don't do the crime and you don't do the time; whether in prison or your face plastered in a poster; the dog being beaten, starved, drowned didn't have any mercy, no escape ; a person has a brain to know better; he had money, fame; no sympathy for him; to kill an animal with your bare hands and have no remorse for a life of God's creature is a sin against all ; it starts with animals and then moves on ; statistically true

Because the others are unknown. Michael Vick is the poster child for animal cruelty. He made his own bed and now he has to sleep in it.

Because it is name recognition. If they had the other two defendants, people would say "Who are those guys?"
