Doesn't matter FAT or NTFS. Go to Western Digital Web site and look for installation instructions.

You'll need to go into the BIOS setup and enable the IDE drives. There's a key you press during startup to enter setup, usually F2 or the Delete key.

How you do it depends on who makes your motherboard, but most have a section on Hard drives. Find that section and enable the IDE drives. Note that most systems will try to boot from the the IDE drive before the SATA drive. You can usually fix this in setup as well. Look for a section that says "boot order" or something similar

If you dont to mess around inside the computer then the easiest solution is to buy a USB External Hard Drive Enclosure.
Make sure that it is for IDE drives. Set the jumper on the IDE drive to master. Putting the hard drive inside the enclosure is really easy. Then just connect the external HD via USB to your computer and you should see all the files.
Now, you have an external storage.
