Yesterday I dropped my cell phone in the toilet. I got it out right away and let it dry out then put it in a bag of rice. I tried it this morning and it says "download started - emegency @usb_ISR Image invalid bootblock version:r500_bb:Af16.8"

does this mean the phones shot and i should get a new one? or should i wait it out and let it dry a few more days? it seems completely try to me.. when i shake it no water comes out like it used to and a ton was in the bag of rice

I dont want to wait for a new one if its shot cause its my life source.. i dont have a home phone

The phone is most likely toast. You should get yourself a new one. Did you have the insurance? Cingular (ATT) paid all but $50 for a new phone for me when mine hit the water a couple of years ago.

Take out the batteries. And let dry completely. Some will still work and some wont. If you didnt pay much for it -I would get another but if it was expensive give it some time to dry. Then use new batteries -those are shot.

Even if it works now, it will fail in a short period of time.

You need to get a new one.

If it happens again, do not turn it on! Take the battery off, and put the phone in the oven at 120 degress (warm) for a hour or so.

Did the same thing and I had to purchase a new one because Sprint wouldn't cover for water damage. So yea it's pretty much trash now. They told me to run a hair dryer on it to make sure all the components are dried really well. So try that and it may or may not work. Good luck.

That happened to me and I took the battery out and set it and the phone on the window seal to catch a good breeze and dry out overnight and the next morning it was fine. Good Luck!

Your best bet is to take the phone apart and clean it with a lightly soaked toothbrush with alcohol, then cool dry it with a hair dryer for 3 mins. 99% of the time it works

My son also dropped his but in the sink . we took the battery out and left it open in the sun for several days and took the sim card out too. and it works now but was not totally immersed .just under the running faucet.

You could try opening your phone up and drying it with a hairdryer...but think its best to get new one...
