It's played in many countries regardless of language and has been for many many years.
A lot are saying monopoly here but how many countries in the world will have even heard of this game?
All the underveloped countries don't push around a top hat or a dog to land on jail!
It the answer would depend on how you define 'famous' but i would say 'being known to the most people' and although Monopoly is well know to us it doesn't nearly have that sort of popularity world wide.
The game with the highest number of sales doesn't mean it's the most 'famous' either, many people make board games from scratch because there isn't a toy shop just down the road.
