I used to walk the line but I'm a lot more adventurous, I step over that line as many times as I can get away with it, it adds some spice to life!!

The words that people use to describe anything and anyone tend to be more about themselves than it is an unbiased fact. With that in mind, the idea of dominance theory with regards to dogs tends to make more sense when you think about that person's personality and their relationship to other people in their lives. Similarly people and their pets tend to resemble each other because behavior is contagious. The rules that you make are only as important as your ability to adhere to them. I like your question about walking the dog or letting the dog walk you. This is a very good example of what people are afraid of. I think the more you allow yourself to go where the dog wants you to go, the less you really know where you begin and your dog ends. You're both tied together quite literally, and what does that mean? As long as you're not the one who needs the other one to pick up your crap, I think you're still the leader. Take care of your dog. It sounds like you do a good job of it already.

Fooled with that line a bit . . . now I walk it with a constant curiosity about what's on the other sides.

I choose to not acknowledge the line that someone else came up with.
I draw my own lines.

I detest your line. I walk over there by that rose bush.
