4x + 8 - 12x = -32
-8x + 8 = -32
-8x = -32 - 8
-8x = -40
x = -40 / -8
x = 5

Subtract 4x on both sides

8 = 8x - 32
Add 32 on both sides
40 = 8x

Divide 8 on both sides
