You've nothing to do. Secondary amenore is always caused by another problem, such as polycystic ovary syndrome, hipophyseal or hypothalamic disfunctions etc., and these situations maybe very dangerous, you must go to a doctor.

Answer of your second question: Pap-smear only shows the epielium of the servix (neck) of your uterus, it's a surveillance test against cervix cancer. Doesn't show your hormonal situation, and amenore is generally related with hormonal disfunctions. Hormone tests in blood and an ultrasound is necessary.

This problem sounds like something serious, and I think you can't solve it in here. Didn't your doctor make the blood tests and ultrasound? If did, after you took the results, didn't s/he tell you anything? And why didn't you ask to your doctor what the problem is and what the treatment is? I think you must change your Gyno... This problem must examined seriously.

Just because your pap came back normal doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong. All a pap does is test for atypical cells - cancer and viruses. You may have endometriosis, poly-cystic fibrosis, blocked ovaries, "dead" ovaries that don't produce eggs...you need to get a second opinion, a third opinion and a fourth opinion.

It could also be a sign of hyper thyroidism. Go back to the doctor and demand every test imaginable and don't take no for an answer. It's your body, it's your right.

What is your family history like? Did your mother or grnadmother have the same issue, it could be hereditary. If the Dr feels nothing is wrong then maybe your body is doing some major changing. I'm only 36 and over 1/2 way through menopause already. it could be what's happening to you. Do you get cramps or anything? No-one lieks Dr's but maybe there's a specialist that can let you know if your body is just changing or if there is something more going on.

It is not good to go a full year without a period at your age.
Ask your doctor to give you either birth control pills to make you have a period or Provera 10mg x 5 days to start your cycle.
I wonder if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome, PCOS?
Can look up PCOStreat.com for information on that syndrome.
If you lose the weight you have gained, sometimes that weight loss will make your period start, and set you back into normal periods.
Look up any articles on secondary amenorrhea. This is what you do have, and there are many causes for it, and you will need to have a gyn to sort it out for you.

i hoped you have tried to check out and follow everyones advise about seeing another gyne. I am not against self-medication, but there are set-backs that might only worsen the problem if not done correctly. Just to share: my mom passed away due to her liver giving up due to abuse. Self-medications, ignoring other symptoms, knowing too much and too little about her health status. Its not the same for everyone, but it wouldn't have worsen if she would have gone to the doctor sooner.

There might be other symptoms you might have overlooked, those which are too trivial or manageable and which you think might not be related to your amenorrhea. Tell your doctor everything, the diagnosis depends on what you inform the doctor. Suggested exams also depend on what you tell the doctor.
