it is a netgear DG834G v3 router....
my vista laptop cannot connect wirelessly to it with vista which is a pain in the proverbial arsehole!!!
can any yahoo's help me?????

I think it is very unlikely indeed that you need to update your router. The only problem I have had with Vista wireless connections is that Vista does not always recognise the type of security (i.e. WEP, WPA) that is in use and you need to change the settings on the laptop wireless connection to make this explicit. I suggest you persevere with your laptop connection.

Routers are little computers and run their own Operating System. Vista has nothing to do with that.

Read the Router Manual, then set it up for WiFi as instructed,

Then, call your ISP, they will help you connect to the web.
