You still may need to disable the onboard sound.

When starting up your computer press ESC key to enter the bios. Sometime computers may use th F1 key instead. There is an option in there to disable the onboard sound.

If you need to know more to feel comfortable do a search

......."How to enter the bios" or
......."How to disable the onboard sound"

I know it sounds complicated but it's really easy. You might have to look around for it. Only make changes to the onboard sound and then save your settings on exit when leaving the bios.

Also you may need to go to the control panel and change your settings there for it to know to use the new sound card.
Look for the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the control pannel. It will be under the "Audio" tab. Change all of these drop down boxes to the name of your new sound card.

If that doesn't work then your sound card may not be compatible with your computer. Try uninstalling and reinstalling and if that doesn't work then try a different sound card.

All sound cards need drivers.

The disk should have come with the card, if not, look for the driver on the manufacturer's website.
