I am not quite sure what you are referring to but here is an example. The atomic bombs dropped on Japan ended WWII. Had the US chosen not to use them, the war could have lasted for several more years causing thousands of more Japanese deaths than were caused by the bombs.

Well... First you need a whole bunch of bombs, nice big ones or a heck of a lot more smaller ones. Second you need several planes to carry them. Then as you fly over an drop them, you can shout down at the country, "This is for your own good!" or you can write it on the bomb so that they can read it before hits them. A good followup shout is, "You'll thank me later for this!"

And that is how it is done.
