Oh, let me speak from the experience of this Empty-Nesting Single Retiree who has had a "First Date" (and now ... a new boyfriend!)
Live Local Theater, walk downtown to a local restaurant, late night dinner, walk back to our vehicles, and a nice hug goodnight ...
Then ... the guy (man) calls the next morning (to my cell phone) and asks for another date ... which does not have to be fancy ... just something that we both would enjoy visiting or doing (like going to a museum or taking a walk in a park).

Depends on how old you are! I would say go out and have a drink. It usually calms the nerves. I wouldn't suggest dinner. That can be a weird first date. I wouldn't suggest movies..not enough of a chance to get to chat. Maybe the zoo, fair, carnival or amusement park! Good Luck with that! :)

The first date I had with my girl was dinner followed by a nationally touring musical - it was Oklahoma! She gave me a big hug at the end of the evening and she called the next day to say thanks. It was a great and I have been with her ever since (a year and a half).

Dinner only, no movie, You want to get to know this person and sitting, not talking at a theatre is not going to help you out much

Really depends on the girl.
Some are plain janes....dinner n movie
Others are more adventorous...i actually took one girl to an abandoned place one cuz she liked stuff like that
Some like bars
On and on...you might find a nerdy one who likes the library hahahah good luck
