I'm planning to buy a laptop and I need an opinion on Intel Celeron M processor,is it slow or an average? I will be just using the laptop for home use only, like music, movies, programs. So , I would like to know its advantages and disadvantages for a basic user like me. Thank you

Slow but cheap although the Celeron M will give you decent performance (it does have some cache, just not as much as more expensive processors, the cacheless Celerons are pretty much impossible to get now, thankfully).

If you don't play any demanding games, do scientific computation or anything like that it'll do just fine.

Music and movies should be fine though for serious movie editing I'd get dual core (but if you don't really do any movie making you shouldn't have a problem, even most basic stuff should be fine with that).

The basic advantage is price. It does a good job on the basics but does not compare in speed and power to the C2D.

Advantage - cheaper. Disadvantage - experience of use is slower, Lacks internal cache for numeric processing which covers just about everything today. Was originally a failed chip from higher production that failed cache so was disabled. Don't know if they are still that way or are just designed as a poor quality chip.
