When a corpse is found, hands tied behind the back and shot though th back of the head, the news reports an "execution style" killing. What nation, that still executes convicts for heinous crimes, uses this method of execution? Isn't it more a "gangland style" killing?
If such executions are still carried out in Asia, for example, shouldn't the reference be toward an "Asian execution style" killing?

You are probably correct in your assumption. A gangland style killing is usually a killing where the person killed, faced the person doing the killing. On occasion, gangland murders are done as the person or persons being shot at are fleeing the ones doing the shooting.

Execution style, when performed outside of a penal institution, is referred to the hands tied behind the back, and shot in the back of the head. When the media refers to an "execution," it generally means in a penal institution, and is carried out by law. When the term "execution style" is used, this generally means outside of a penal institution, and performed by criminals.
