I'm writing emails and things on my laptop and every now and again what I'm typing will just stop appearing. If I have the cursor in the text box it reappears where the mouse is pointing but then you get half sentences all over the page. If I have the cursor outside it just stops altogether. Why is this and is there any way of getting it fixed?

Something else is happening to remove focus from the e-mail window. When you type, you reassert focus wherever the mouse is. It's not your keyboard or your mouse. What else is going on in your computer? It could be IM's, popups, or something evil. Is your antivirus software up to date?

Things you can try.
If you can plug in another keyboard (usually via USB so see if you can borrow a wireless one)

Try a different email program (try "Thunderbird")

Make sure you have cleaned out all your temporary files and done a full and updated virus and spyware check.

Is your typing affected for instance in a Word Processing programme, if not, write your emails using this and send them as attachments. Also you could try writing it in a WP Programme and then copy and pasting it directly on your email form.

If it is your keyboard then beware as these are costly things to replace and should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Microsoft housekeeping, in the background, hidden from your view, is more important to keeping the computer from crashing, in the view of Microsoft, so that is usually the cause.

You can look in your START UP registry, using REGEDIT, HiJackThis, and similar editors, obeying the caveats, and remove those huge resource users, like Office Suites, so other programs don't run in RAM.

The other option is that you need more RAM installed to handle all the programs you have running on start up.

wait for a better answer but it could be that you are getting ad pop ups which for my pute stops me from writing. or you get reminder from your pute like to update your spyware.

so if something else is going on with the pute at the same time your typing your pute is soooo slow that it cant handle for then 1 function at a time.

when i say its slow i mean you must have dial up. highspeed wouldnt have caused a problem with your pute not being able to handle more then one function at a time.

good luck
