sweetie its definitely normal for the pains to come just before your period or during or both!!how are you so sure its your ovary thats hurting??uterine cramping is what majorly causes period pain n im sure theres no cause for alarm!!
BUT IN ANY CASE I THINK A CHECKUP WID YOUR GYNO AND AN ULTRASOUND JUST TO MAKE SURE will do you lots of good and you wont have to worry bout it again!!
hope things are A-ok :)
gud luck n god bless!x

This almost sounds like a question I could have asked myself as I get this all the time too, except in my case I have this pain throughout my entire cycle, and especially have the extremely bad cramps and pain during the first 2 days of my period (even though I'm using birth control).
I have always had pretty intense period cramps, but in the past when I have had an ovarian cyst, it has caused me to have even more painful periods and that same sharp pain in my left ovary.
I don't have a ovarian cyst at the moment that I know of and still get the pain and cramps. My gyno thinks that I might have endometriosis and I will be having a laparoscopy in 2 weeks to see whether it diagnoses me with endo or not.
I would highly recommend you see your doctor/gyno and let them know about the pain that you've been having. They may want to run some tests or send you for an ultrasound to see what could be causing this.
Good luck, I hope it's nothing serious. :)

I have the same thing going on. Every other month it does the same thing. You should see your Gyn. or just a regular family doctor. They will more then likely order that you have a sonogram done to check for a cyst on your ovary. Thats what I have, it gets better but sometimes it gets worse. If the pain keeps coming back ask your doctor to prescribe you a higher dosage pain medicine so that you can sleep better.

Yes to have a bit of pain in the days before your period and in some cases during the first part of your period can be normal, but it hurts so much and making it hard for you to sleep this needs to be evaluated by your doctor to see what they think is going on.

You should ask your doctor. Anything serious enough to keep you awake with pain should be seen by a physician and no, its not the norm.
