Normally, when I wake up in the middle of the night it means that even though I thought I had shut my mind off for the night I was highly mistaken. If there is something that is on my mind that I find to be important I try to resolve it with a resolution that I feel comfortable with. When I do I normally write down what I am feeling and why if it is something really troubling me. Then I will read what I wrote hours or so later when I wake up and see just how important it really was. Sometimes its because there is something exciting on the horizon and the time just isnt traveling fast enough. When I have a rather big case at work and I know that there are people who are depending on me to see it through it will wake me up at times. Lastly, and this happened for a while and then went away, when I returned from Iraq I would wake up (at around 3am) and feel like I had slept 12 hours when I only slept perhaps four hours. I think it was because I had left an area that was packed with emotion (up and down) and suspense (not knowing what was going to happen next at any moment) and an area where I was tense on a continuous basis. I would wake up and pace, stare out the window, step outside and breath in the free air (with moisture actually in it), look around me and take in everything, listen to the silence or the sound of rain dripping from the trees (etc) and smell the grass. I guess I was trying to convince myself that I was really truly home. My take on it is that you have something that is unresolved or something that is tugging at your conscious. Write it down (all of it), open a window and spend some time listening to the quiet if thats possible, look at what you wrote the next day and come to a resolution. I would almost bet there is definately something thats weighing on your conscious or tugging at your heart. Something that needs resolved.

If nothing is pending, I do one of two things:
1. Check Y/As to see if I received any best answers.
or
2. Take 2 Zanaflex with a tall glass of water
and go back to bed.
