hi, our carpets r filthy (mainly cos of our dog) stained

but we've also got fleas in carpets

im wondering if its better for me to buy Hometek steam mop as everyone swears by it

or would i be better hiring a carpet shampoo machine like Rugdoctor?

I want

1. to clean the dirty marks off
2. to get rid of the fleas in the carpet, (have tried sprays and hoovering - not working)

does a steam mop get the dirty marks out? would it be better 2 shampoo it?

please help?

Hire a good carpet cleaner. Once your carpet is clean cover it with flea powder and leave for at least 15 minutes and then hoover. Repeat with flea powder every 5 days or so, during which time use a flea treatment on your dog.

First you need to treat your flea problem. Get a flea bomb for the house and then take care of your pets. They should have daily protection against fleas. Filthy carpets aren't going to respond much to a mop and though Rug Doctor does well enough for routine maintenance your carpets need a professional like Stanley Steemer or a company like them. If the dirt and stains have been there for sometime, you may need new carpet as the fibers would be ruined.

If your carpet is 'filthy'you need to get a professional cleaning job done. You can find them in Yellow pages. However, if they were my carpets I'd need to get new ones because I couldn't stand the thought of the possibilty of dead fleas being amongst the carpet pile.

Whilst you are waiting for the carpet cleaning man to come you need to de-flea your pets or you'll be back in the same situation again.

We have 3 inside dogs and a kittty cat....First spot your carpet with Oxy clean or any store carpet shampoo..then use a .STEAM cleaner with 3=5 squirts dawn detergent and fill to solution line with vinegar...then fill the rest of the tank up with water....I do this once a month in summer and WALLAH!! No fleas or ticks..Also go to feed store and get Diatamaceous earth for your yard...dust your yard everywhere for starters..Wear a mask and keep your dog away from the yard til the dust settles.......and then go to GNC store or equivalent for NEEM oil...then put the two drops of neem oil in a n empty shampoo bottle add oatmeal aveeno body wash and wash your doggy with it......Bingo no fleas on your doggy...Most important wash your dogs bedding and anywhere your doggie lays......This is the best non toxic and safe way to clean your pet and keep your house and yard free of the critters...Good luck and kiss your puppy doggie for me...We have 4 RESCUES and they are so worth having a clean home for them to thrive in good health.....

I have a polti steam cleaner, and it is the best investment I have ever made,it cleans the whole of my house, kills germs, bugs, fleas, cleans my carpets, my windows my pateo furniture, keeps my beds free of dust mites, my wooden floors, in fact every room in my house, and without using harmful chemicals. Steam cleaners will also leave your carpets dry, as the steam is dry.
