I had cystitis last week which I took antibiotics for. I stopped going to the toilet so much, but i still have a pressure in my tummy when i go to the toilet and a burning feeling. What else could be wrong?

sounds like you've got a urinary tract infection.

i would take a trip back to the dr to have your urine tested again. it could be that the antibiotics just aren't strong enough or are the wrong kind for the certain strain of bacteria that you have.

the burning feeling should only last a day or two after starting antibiotics-not a whole week. the pressure might take a little longer to subside.

but if it were me-i would have my urine rechecked b/c if a UTI gets into your kidneys, this could mean big trouble (i've been hospitalized twice for a kidney infection-they hurt!!!) they cause you to pee blood, have a high fever, and pain beyond belief!!

you should be seen within 24-48 hours. in the meantime, keep taking your meds and try drinking cranberry juice to help with the burning sensation. the hippuric acid in the juice acidifies your urine and prevents bacteria from sticking to the walls of your bladder. make sure it's 100% cranberry juice though.

hope u feel better soon!!

Since you said that you had cystitis just last week, i think it is better for you to consult a physician & undergo other diagnostic tests to detect if you have other renal diseases. Maybe, the antibiotics you had taken are not enough to kill the microorganism which caused the inflammation of your bladder. increase also you fluid intake...

Dahlink...You have a really serious UTI. A "doc in a box" will prescribe for you and if youre poor, they may even have some free samples. But get it treated before it gets to your kidneys and causes glomerulonephritis.
