It's a terrible testimony to our priorities. Just the fact that we make millionaires of those who entertain us, while those who teach our children struggle to make it financially. Oh yes, what an enlightened society we have become!

Sports and entertainment are part and parcel in the slice of life. Happiness is one of the ingredients in life. Just because you want yourself to be entertained is tantamount to a guilt feeling because others are starving. Would you want all humans to be serious and keep thinking all through the day on how to feed these 35000 people due to lack of food. All work no play make Jack a dull person. I believe this is being address by the United Nations as the right body. We humans have also the life to live. You cannot force everyone to set their minds as yours for each individual has its own different mind. I am very much touched of your concern about these people dying. But don't be guilty about it for the problem lies not within you but on the society we live in.
I just hope all people will be provided with foods on their tables. For this is the first necessity for survival as one of the human needs in life.
Thanks to your question. Have a great day!

The question here is what can we do about it?
We're given a somewhat privalged life while millions out there die daily. We waste food, knowing that all of them would do anything just for a grain of rice.
We let the water run over and over again, even knowing what they might do just to get water, even if it means running into a tiger's territory.
But the only thing we can do is just try to conserve and donate. Thing is we just can't live without any of the stuff we have now, the computer, television, water then comes from our very own taps.
But I somewhat feel guilty... yet sometimes I just forget about it... it might seem selfish but anyone who says they actually care when they didn't personally go to the country suffering and help the people there individually just lied to themselves.
Maybe one day if we have a lot of money, and have some to spare then I don't mind going to the region just to help them by donating etc...
But till then, I think I have my own self, bills to worry about.

Hello Small of course not we should all care and all the countries are doing something about it where do you think our money that goes to the sports and entertainment events go too they always and you hear this all the time alocate money to the poor people starving all over the world ..........
I know what your saying people can do alot more and not be greedy and selfish in their lifestyles I agree with this I always give to the poor through my Catholic Charities donating clothes etc...we can all make a difference if we try that is the point even just giving to one cause :)))

If guilt is defined as "regretting the past for not having did something to alter a certain out come " Then you must ask the following, Have I during the course of my life while enjoying certain things ,worked toward the betterment of my less off brothers and sisters? If you truly have then enjoy all ready!

Discussing issues won't put food into peoples' mouths.
There is enough food in the world to feed the starving people many times over. The trouble is it goes into the garbage cans as leftovers from our plates. That is what we should feel guilty about. The enormous waste of food.

Guilty maybe, more aware most definetly, but the average American can't afford to feed themselves much less another country. I think it should be mandatory for the filthy rich, to have to donate a certain amount to help the stravation problem in every country not just one of their chose. It's just a thought.

I do not think we should feel guilty. Haven't we as Americans already caused enough trouble worrying about and meddling in the internal problems of other countries? Besides, if you feed a bunch of poor people all you will end up with is even more poor people showing up on your doorstep. The people of these countries where famines occur need to fix their societies and governments to address the root causes of their poverty, and we're simply not in any position to be able to do that for them.

That's why I stopped doing it!
When I look at the glass as half empty, my $300 dollar ticket, could have payed for 30 grocery bills!
