Well, personally i went on babiesrus.com
and picked out EVERYTHING i needed
( crib, bottles, stroller etc.)
Everything came to $2000.00
and that's not adding diapers and food
so babies are fairly expensive, expecially if you're like me and spoil them.

Its totally up to the person as to how much you want to spend. If you are going for the essentials and you look for good quality 2nd hand stuff, you could outfit a whole baby room, car seat, newborn+ clothes, linen for $500 or less. Then you have the cost of nappies, (cloth would be cheaper) and formula (obviously breastfeeding is free!)

I think most people would spend this on the cot alone though! I really think $1500 + is a good average starting point if you buy new and have help with big items from family. from there on the sky's the limit on what you could spend on baby
stuff. I'd say expect to spend $3000 in the first year alone. Some studies say each child costs upwards of $125,000 till they turn 18!
