Why, or why not?

yes. Why? Exodus ch.3 verse 14 tells us that God's name is YHWH, of which is "I Am that I Am." What this means, and what God told Moses was that He is a necessary being.
Now I don't mean to be redundant, but a necessary being is a being whose existence is necessary. A necessary being cannnot just start existing or stop existing otherwise He would not be necesssary. That is, a necessary being cannot "not" exist.
The flip side to this is that it is impossible for there to be No existence at all. Ask yourself, Can there exist a state of absolute Non-existence? Well if non-existence existed absolutely speaking then it wouldn't be nonexistence, it would be some sort of existence. Therefore, only existence can have existence and that is why there something rather than nothing.
But of course, some will say that there is no necessary being. There are only contingent beings. A contingent being is a being whose existence depends upon something other than itself for its beginning to exist and continued existence. Now if there are only contingent beings then the first contingent being needs explaining. What is the cause of the first contingent being? If we say that the cause is another contingent being, then who or what caused that contingent being? Again, if we say that another contingent being caused it, well we're back to asking what caused that contingent being again. Which is to say that this regression in contingent beings will be potentially infinite and that is to say when talking of the first contingent being, there really is no first contingent being because you're always adding one more Contingent being to explain the other, but if there is no first, there can be non. Which is absurd because we're here and of course existence is necessary.
So some will say from well, there is an actual infinite number of contingent beings as opposed to a potential infininte number. The difference is that in an potentially infinite series you can start counting but never reach the end. Where as in an actual infinite there is no need to start counting because you already have an "actual" infinite already. Soooo, they say, there's an actual infinite number of contingent beings. this means that they all exist simultaneously. thus everyone of the contingent beings is explained for by another contingent being and no necessary being was necessary.
However, the failure of this point is to explain how the entire infinite number of contingent beings got there to begin with. Though within this set, each being explains the existence of another, as a whole, however, the entire set needs explaining because as a whole they must all exist together and as a whole they are not necessary. So we could say that a contingent being brought into existence this infinite number of contingent beings, but then we're back to asking what caused him.
As a result the only way to explain contingent beings is to have a necessary being, because whether there be an actual or potentially infinite number of us, a necessary being is necessary to explain both.

Are there any other types of beings? I don't know honestly..but it does not seem to me that there are. Because beings are either contingent or necessary, dependent or independent, beings cannot be both necessary and contingent or depent and independent at the same time and in the same respect.

As a result I believe God exists in the same way I believe 1+1=2, there is no blind leap of faith

Yes. At the heart of it, it's a "do you believe x exists" question like all the others, regardless of the particular x we discuss. When you look at, think about and experience your world, what do you feel is there?

True belief in God, without respect to any dogma or religion, I think simply arises from religious, spiritual and/or mystical experience, from essentially feeling at your heart and soul that something is there. Then you believe in that something that you feel exists.

It comes down to this: I feel God (and other things too) is there, so I believe. I could be right, or wrong, but I simply live in accordance with the best my heart, and my head, have to say. They feel God exists, and so I do as well.

Believing in God is a choice, not based on any reason. I believe in God when I am in trouble, otherwise I find no time for the thought of God. May be, if I can genuinely believe in God, I would never be in trouble, who knows?

For the same reason I don't believe in the Tooth Fairy or Dionysus or worship the Teletubbies. What a lame and tired question.

Yes. I made it this far, there's no way I could have done that all by myself.... There's too many coincidences of someone saving my butt! ...Even if there were no coincidences, belief in God does not warrant an explanation.

No. Because all religions seem rather conveniently to have oppression at the core of them.
