It is a name fit for royalty. I think the name means something to do with rainbows or the beams of light like Aura Borialice (I know I'm not spelling it right). If you have never seen one then you don't know what kind of beauty mother nature can paint.

I liked it when I was a little girl. I always wanted to name my daughter Aurora Dawn. I have since changed my mind. I have two little girls--neither of them are named Aurora.
I like the name, though. I believe it has gained some popularity since the Disney movie "Sleeping Beauty" came out. Aurora was ranked in the 300 range in popularity in the year 2005, so it is obviously a popular name.
Good luck to you! I have ALWAYS wanted a Gabriel, but I have no boys yet.

It's a beautiful name! Congratulations!
Aurora - Latin origin, and its meaning is "dawn".
Mythology: Aurora was the Roman goddess of sunrise. Used by 19th-century poets such as Byron and Browning. In some versions of the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty", the princess's name is Aurora. Also used today as a learned equivalent of Dawn.
Goodluck!
