7% here just north of Atlanta.
1% of that is a local option sales tax that is voted on by our county every couple of years to pay for improvements, schools, and parks in the county. It is a popular tax.

Illinois
6.25%
1% on groceries (not counting pop etc)
city of Watseka
another .75% making total 7%

Indiana has no sales tax on regular groceries
that's why i go there to buy a lot of things
it's only about 12 miles
i go to Kankakee for a lot of things that would be 7 %
don't make a special trip for a few things, usually go once a month and stock up - plus there is an aldi's there
Kankakee is about 30 - 35 miles depending on what side of town you need to go to

Virginia State Sales Tax: 6.0%.
Virginia Hotel/Motel Occupancy tax is 5%.
Restaurant food taxes run anywhere from 9% to 11.5%(in 6 cities in Virginia).

I don't believe Buena Park is one of the communities that tacks on their local increase to the state rate of 8% there are four communities in the LA area that do but I do not recall Buena Park was one of them

In Michigan there is no tax on unprepared food (food from a store grocery store), but if it's made for you (like at a restaurant) then it's 6% along with everything else. When I was a kid it was 4%

Wow! That's pretty high!! Ours is 5% sales tax. I was looking at your price of groceries in a question you anwered and with that tax you must pay a pretty penny.

No tax on groceries, medicines prescriptions, OTC medicines, some things from the health food stores,& a few other odds & ends.
