Short answer: No.
Slightly longer answer: Not in a million freaking years.
Most elaborate answer: Environmentalism is high-fashion at the moment, and I'm proud to NOT be a part of the fad. I've had environmentalism shoved down my throat since I was a child (public schools love to recruit children into the movement), and I believe the entire concept that the world is constantly under attack and that we constantly have to take action to "save" it is fundamentally flawed.
On top of that, hybrids are basically useless. Their fuel mileage isn't that impressive: a 1980s vintage Chevrolet Sprint gets superior overall gas mileage to the Toyota Prius, and several other cars get nearly the same. Toyota's own Corolla gets 41 mpg highway compared to the Prius' 45 mpg, and costs almost half as much. Hybrid technology is also expensive, hence the high prices. So expensive are they, that you'd have to drive one literally for decades to see any real cost savings over a regular economy car.
Hybrids still produce marginally lower emissions, but who cares? Anyone who's really concerned about emissions should just buy a big diesel truck, run it on biodiesel, and pollute even less than hybrids do.
Ultimately, hybrids are nothing more than a political statement. They're fashion accessories for the wealthy ultra fanatical left-wingers and self-important actors and musicians.
Plus, I'm a car enthusiast. Cars are sacred to me. You won't catch me rolling around in a half-electric, soulless pod.

Yes I would. In fact, I'm very seriously considering buying a Toyota or Honda hybrid when I buy my next car about a year from now. I've talked to someone who has a Honda Civic hybrid and they were very happy with the car so that really got me thinking I might give it a try.

Only if they build one that does not look like the infamous hybrids currently out. They do not look like something any man could drive and not be declared "Effeminate" by default.
What "Tears it" with the average driver is the granting of special favors to hybrid drivers, like use of the HOV lanes in California with just the driver present as a key example.
Honestly, it is the leading cause of resentment to both the vehicles and their drivers.
Taking cue from South Park, I refer to the Toyota Prius as "The Smug".
Betcha that friggin' "Mac Kid" drives a Smug . . .

If the price came down.
I'll continue to drive my economy car till it dies. Its an 8 year old car, and I get 35 miles to the gallon.
I can't ignore the environmental impact of the manufacturing of the new car. Don't forget that the materials of the car have an impact too. So its important to judge whether or not it is worth it to replace a car (with all the carbon emissions involved in making the new car) to save however many miles per gallon.

hybrid vehicles are are actually not in easy terms risky to be around - they're additionally extra high priced to maintain and extremely extreme priced to repair - what you keep on gas you will bypass via in maintenance somewhat whilst it comes time to interchange the battery - they're very high priced to interchange something like $5,000 or extra and an incredible variety of mechanics and vehicle physique workers are turning out to be electrocuted engaged on them - in no way purchase a used one by way of fact maximum folk will sell them whilst the battery is approximately to bypass so which you will might desire to foot the bill - they have been somewhat a stepping stone to the electrical powered vehicle - in case you prefer to keep funds purchase your self a commonplace gas vehicle with good gas mileage or anticipate the Chevy volt and you will have a real electric powered vehicle

Yes, if I could afford to buy a new car.
I always buy used because I never want a car payment.I love my freedom to much to have to work at something I hate just to make a car payment.
I have never yet had a brand new car, my ego doesn't need it.
