They don't use Miller anymore. It was just an attempt to get some new blood watching football, plus Dennis is a fan. I liked him, too bad America was too stupid to go along.
Kornheiser is a respected sports writer. Probably knows more about the game then the retired jocks do.

Because they want to attract "new viewers". Personally, I think they are doing the opposite and lots of people are turning MNF off or at least turning the TV down because of the commentary. Dennis Miller was anything but funny and Tony Kornheiser just needs to stay on PTI.

Miller I think was some idiot executive's decision to try and make the game a bit more funny. Kornheiser seems to just be a well known personality on ESPN so I guess they needed someone and everyone was out to lunch.

I hate Kornholer on MNF...he's fine on PTI, but I think he does better when he's reading off a prompter. He doesnt have chemistry with anyone in the booth, so their "banter" is always awkward and forced, and TBH he doesnt provide much meaningful analysis of the game in realtime. All he really does is provide a running description of what you're seeing on TV anyway, doesnt go into much more depth beyond that.
Jaws is OK, better than Theissman last year, but who I really liked was Vermeil when he called the second game of the doubleheaders last year. Where is he now, is he doing any broadcasting? They need to get him in the booth instead of Kornheiser. Rich Gannon is good too, but he's with CBS.

LOL @ "Amateurs"
I don't know about Dennis Miller but they hired Tony because he is a well-known sportswriter and real good on that show Pardon The Interruption.
However, he doesn't seem to know a hell of a lot about football. He's aight, though.

Not sure why they thought of Dennis Miller...but Tony Kornheiser is an employee of ESPN...I think he's OK on PTI, but sucks on MNF...

Kornheiser is a respectable sportswriter, but not a respectable announcer. He should stick to writing and shut his big nerdy mouth. I can't stand anything he says. What a joke.

I heard it had to do with interjecting a comedic slant onto the game, and I believe IMHO it was not a good idea at all. Commentary is like 90% playcalling, 9% historical/idle talk/interviews with guests, and 1% comedy.
