a.
2+3/24(x/4-1) = 1/3
2+1/8(x/4 -1) = 1/3
2+x/32 - 1/8 = 1/3
x/32 = 1/3 + 1/8 - 2
x=32/3 + 4 -64
x = -49 - 1/3 = -49.333...

b.
2^2 + (2x)^2/log₂ 32
4 + 4x^2/5
4/5(1+x^2)

a) 2+3/24(x/4-1)=1/3

I'm not sure exactly what the question is. There are two possibilities:

2 + (3/24) (x/4 - 1) = 1/3
<=> 48 + 3 (x/4 - 1) = 8 (multiplying by 24)
<=> 3 (x/4 - 1) = 8 - 48 = -40
<=> x/4 - 1 = -40/3
<=> x/4 = -37/3
<=> x = -148/3 = -49 1/3.

or

2 + 3 / (24(x/4-1)) = 1/3
<=> 2 + 3 / (6x-24) = 1/3
<=> 3 / (6x-24) = 1/3 - 2 = -5/3
<=> (6x-24) / 3 = -3/5
<=> 2x - 8 = -3/5
<=> 2x = 37/5
<=> x = 37/10.

b) 2^2 + (2x)^2 / log_2 32
= 4 + 4x^2 / (log_2 2^5)
= 4 + 4x^2 / 5.

To evaluate this we have to know what x is.

i believe A is 40...i cant remember how to do logs sorry

2+3/24(X/4-1)=1/3 multiply
2+3X/72=1/3
6/3-1/3= -3X/72 group like numbers
5/3=3X/72 cross multiply
360=9X divide number of X
X=40
