Of course it is possible, Americans and Japanese do it all the time, but we Europeans think those tourists are crazy.
Although some people think 2 days in Amsterdam is too long, I think that after an intercontinental flight you need more than one day in Amsterdam.
Here is a link with good info on what to do and see in Amsterdam:
http://www.amsterdam.info/ (It has links to museums, a map and all else you need in the town.)
From Amsterdam to Paris will take half a day by train, flying is not much faster nor cheaper, can take more time and money if you are not lucky,)

For the high speed trains you get a ticket for one train only, not to be used in any other train.
Paris to Milano takes about 8 hours, and that is just the north of Italy.
You will want to see several places in Italy, have a look at the Italian railplanner site, and work it out for yourself:
http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html
You might get it all in, but it will be rushed and you will not see a lot.
Better to slow down a bit more and skip France.
Here is a link with several cheap flights:

Within Italy it is rather likely that buying tickets as you go is cheaper than buying a pass.
Specially if you just travel two or three times, even longer distances. On the fast trains you also need to pay a surcharge when traveling with a pass.
For how much money you need, that is very hard.
The average tourist in Amsterdam spends about €200 per day per person, over $250, but some people traveling on budget still manage for less than $100 per day per person.
It is easy to spend much more too.
For France and Italy you can expect the same kind of prices, and flitting around by train will add a lot to what you need.
I wonder if it is wise to combine Amsterdam with Italy, even without France. 6 days for a country like Italy is already not enough.

with enough money, I'd fly to france do the continental europe in order down to italy take a ferry to greece, then take a nice boat out of greece and visit africa on your way out of mediterranian sea to the ireland from there go to london and fly back home.... but the best advice - go with the flow, decide where you wanna fly in (amsterdam), have a drink or whatever and then make a plan, don't stress - believe me, you will have the best trip ever... that is what i did back in 2001 here in US and trust me, no one could plan such a trip prior to when it happened. i visited entire US, all the big cities, and I did not plan 90% of it...I still can't believe it! but mostly make sure ur safe! good luck and have fun!

If you want to spend all these 6 days traveling, it's o.k. But to see something....no chance. For Amsterdam you need two days and France....and Italy...let's be serious, what can you see in 1-2 days in two wonderful countries????

If you are european and do not need a visa, then you can so fly. If you have the Shengen visa and the money, then you can fly.
Else take Euro rail with Shengen visa. You will enjoy the country side in the rail.
You need to make bookings at the place of stay in advance.
