An atomic bomb usually means a fission bomb, that uses a nuclear reaction to break apart Uranium or Plutonium atoms to make energy. A hydrogen bomb uses a fusion reaction to combine hydrogen atoms and release energy. A hydrogen bomb is much more powerful and can kill a lot more people. There is a theoretical limit to the largest possible fission bomb, but there is no theoretical limit to the size of a fusion bomb. In theory you could make one big enough to blow up the entire Earth.
