According to Christian tradition, God made the first family when he put Adam and Eve together. They did not receive the command to be fruitful and multiply until after they committed original sin, which wasn't part of His original plan anyway. To say that children make a family is to say that God never intended for Adam and Eve to be joined as family and that Cain, not God, made the first family.
Conservatively speaking, a family today consists of a group of people related by blood or by law, so this hypothetical married couple will also have parents, brothers, aunts, grandparents, and in-laws that are included in their family. If they have children, their children are added to the family structure that is already in place.
Also, consider this: Let's say a couple has a child and becomes a "family". Many, many years later, that child dies. After so many years as a family, should the grieving couple no longer consider themselves to be a family unit?

I can only tell you what my experience has been as each couple decides for themselves. My husband and I waited until 5 1/2 years into our marriage for our first child to be born. Waiting was one of the the best decisions we made as when we did have the kids we were ready (for the most part, you're never really ready...). We've been married for 24 years now and the kids are 15 and 18. Our marriage is great and our family is happy.

Yes it is. When you got married and put her or him on your insurance you get the FAMILY plan right???? Yes! You don't have to have a child to be a family. Just like a single mom with kids is still a family without a man. Get real people! Families come in all shapes and sizes this is not 1950 anymore.

What's a family anyway?
For me, family is a group of people in which love binds, understanding stands and harmony prevails.
Anywhere, whoever, whatever as long as there are these three, there is family.
It's not just a matter of bloodlines or number of children.
Classmates who understand and help each other is a family.
An institute with harmonious people is a family.
That's family.

Yes, "family" doesn't only refer to mother, father, and children. Family can be grand mother, grand father and children...or three, four, five, six, etc related adults living together. Family is those who love and support one another,
