why do people think IT is for nerds ???

Because, they work monotonously with man made machines and become one. They have to be programmed to do their daily activities. They forget to think on their own. They always boast themselves and think what they do are great.
But I feel they just give commands which are logical for that machine and nothing great.

because they are not smart in it and so because of that inadequacy they must tarnish another part of your character. I mean it wont be correct to say you are stupid. Something like geek is ambigious and has no form. A geek does not have to be someone who looks like one. Anyone smart is put down. Its a great way of social control. I mean if all the ' geeks ' were rewarded and praised as alot of them should be. Then some would just get so powerfull and poplular since they are so smart. The ' popular ' / ' society ' people cannot have that and must crush the geek regularly to keep them suppressed and limit their movement and ability as much as possible. Most IT people etc.. that I have met are well dressed and normal in form and language. They may not be criminals or smoke blunts regularly but they are not ' geeky ' looking or they do not act it. I have names and labels for all of those ' other ' people who label the geeks. E.G I cannot talk ' basic ' and so basic chicks will think I am wierd often because they cannot understand the level of my vocabulary - instead of admitting they cannot understand or asking they attack and try to tarnish.

I've got a JEB Teaching Diploma. But I’m not a nerd or geek. Just because I’m able to teach ECDL, CLAIT or the advanced ECDL doesn’t make me a geek.

Because most people think that intelligent people who use their brains over superficial appearances are not like them. They like to brush people with labels, to make an us vs. them environment, rather than getting along with each individual based on their personal merits.

Because most of them are and are proud of it.
Whether one is cause and the other is effect, most IT guys are tightly focused on their skills and jobs and not very good at social skills.
