Fold one corner over diagonally.
The diagonal edge is now 11√2 = 12.02 inches long.
Fold that edge in half and you get 6.01inches

Okay- the long side is 11 inches, you could subtract 8 1/2 . That would give you 2 1/2. (you would have to fold the short side so it is on top of the long side.)

Now, 8 1/2 - 2 1/2 would give you 6. So you would have to take the part that was 2 1/2 long and fold it so that you could mark where 6 inches was.

1) Fold the paper in half so that it is now 8.5 X5.5
2) Fold the paper by bringing one corner to the oposite side. This will leave a slanted part and a flap of 3 inches(two layers of paper from the first fold)
3) Fold one of the layers from the flap back over the thick part. The two flap parts will now be 6 inches.

I's just fold it over into the 11 sections and each one would be an inch so therefore take 5 sections out and there's your 6 :)

Cut it into half and get two 5.5"x8.5"
Place the 5.5" inches of one piece along one side of the 8.5" giving you 3" (8.5" - 5.5") and fold to mark the 3 inches.
Use two three inches to get 6 inches.
