Sleeping together is a less abrasive way of talking about doing the nasty..... I think it's a little classier then just saying knockin' boots or something...

When people have sex they sure as hell ain't sleeping! I dont know. Maybe because sex can be mighty tiring (if its worth it anyway hehe) and you may want to sleep afterwards.

I think because it sounds better and usually happens in a bed which you sleep in.

I know, & I'm fed up with that term, too!
It's an old term, from th days society frowned on 'explicit' lamguage, & probab. invented by women that wanted a more 'olite/socially acceptable term".
Lets be direct, it's SEX you usually have with a person,...sleeping is OPTIONAL,& is a misleading term.

I kinda wonder that too....but I really think its once again a more respectful way to say of having sex rather than blurting it out..."THEY WERE HAVING SEX TOGETHER" yeah I don't know really....*scratches head*

i have no clue. its annoying. maybe because they're in bed together and traditionally a bed is used for sleeping? thats just a guess.

because it usually shares alot of characteristics with sleeping.
- you do it at night
- you do it in the "sleeping" position horizontally
- you do it on the bed
